Naples is a city which has so many things to offer: scenic beauty, history, architecture, folklore. Everyone knows the classic Neapolitan monuments such as Castel dell'Ovo, the Royal Palace, Piazza del Plebiscito, Castel Nuovo. Yet, the city of Naples has another incredible treasure and whole world envy it: the food and wine heritage. So, after seeing what to visit in Pompeii, we find out today what to drink and what mangiare. Forget fast-food, junk food, no local food, kebabs and cola. Naples has an ancient culinary.
Unlike many other blog I will start by wines and liquors. One of the wines drunk in Naples is the Falanghina of Campi Flegrei. It is a wine made from vines that are born and grow on an extremely volcanic territory. Instead, for the most refined palates we have Lacryma Christi made with grapes which inhabit the Vesuvius. Among the most popular liquor there are Limoncello and Licorice.
As for the food, however, Naples has something for every taste. We start from the pizza, the true typical Neapolitan dish. Eat the pizza in Naples is almost like eating a candy. There is pizza in all tastes and all sizes, and it is a food copied and imitated around the world. Among the first courses there are the linguine with clams and spaghetti with tomato sauce. But in general it is the kitchen of the sea to be the most appreciated: mussel soup, raw seafood, lobster, fried squid and shrimp, sea bass, sea bream, snapper and kingfish.
And for dessert? Certainly a nice baba, or one of the classic puff pastries which both are known throughout the world. No doubt, the baba is the most popular cake with its funny shape and his taste unmistakable.
To end every good meal, however, can not miss a nice cofee. Coffee is another neapolitan habit. A coffee to wake up, a coffee after meals, a coffe like break from work, a coffe to sleep.
And after so much eating a nice walk watching the Vesuvius.
